Helping Hands Chesterfield is a domiciliary care agency providing personal care and treatment of disease, disorder or injury to people living in their own home. The inspection took place between 12 and 24 February 2026. CQC only inspects where people are receiving the regulated activity, at the time of this inspection, 25 people were receiving support in line with the regulated activities of personal care and treatment of disease, disorder or injury. The service is registered for use by autistic people and people with a learning disability. We expect health and social care providers to guarantee autistic people and people with a learning disability the choices, dignity, independence and outstanding access to local communities that most people take for granted. Right support, right care, right inclusive, innovative culture of continuous improvement is the statutory guidance which supports CQC to make assessments and judgements about services providing support to people with a learning disability and/or autistic people. At the time of the assessment, the service was not supporting any autistic people or people with a learning disability, but the provider had regard to ‘Right support, right care, right culture’. This was the first inspection of this location since registration. The registered manager was open and approachable; they had been in the role for only a few months and were working to embed a positive culture and make changes to improve outcomes for people. There were effective systems in place to monitor the quality and safety of the service and actions were taken as needed. The provider ensured safe recruitment and development of staff to meet the individual needs of people. Staff understood their responsibilities to help keep people safe and they knew people well. Care plans and risk assessments reflected people’s assessed needs and helped staff to support people. Staff were knowledgeable in supporting people in a person-centred way and understood the importance of respecting people’s choice and independence.
