Date of Assessment: 22 and 23 January 2026. The service is a care at home service, providing support to older people, younger adults, people living with dementia, physical disabilities and sensory impairments, in their own homes. This assessment was completed due to the service not having been inspected or rated for some time. Managers and staff ensured people were safeguarded from the risk of abuse, neglect and avoidable harm. Safeguarding incidents were managed appropriately, and any improvements to processes or practices were made when needed. People’s capacity to make decisions about their care was assessed and when they were unable to make decisions, their relatives were consulted to ensure the support provided reflected their best interests. People and relatives told us staff provided safe care and we found risks to people’s health and wellbeing were managed well. When people needed specialist care from community agencies to meet their needs, managers arranged this. The provider ensured staff were recruited safely and were suitable to support people in their homes. Staff completed appropriate training so they could support people well. They received regular support and supervision and told us they felt well supported and valued. People were supported by a small team of consistent staff, which people told us was important to them. They told us staff were skilled and competent, visited them on time and stayed as long as they should. Staff knew people very well and provided them with individualised care which reflected their needs, risks, preferences and routines. People and relatives told us staff often went above and beyond their duties and responsibilities and we found examples of this. A community professional praised the consistency of staff and visit times and the professionalism of managers. People and relatives told us staff were kind, compassionate and respected their dignity. Staff encouraged people to be as independent as they could be, to have control over their daily lives and to make choices when they could. The provider sought regular feedback from people about the quality of the service.

This assessment was completed due to the service having an aged rating. The provider ensured people were safeguarded from the risk of abuse, neglect and avoidable harm. Management reported and investigated safeguarding concerns, and any improvements to staff practice were made when needed. People told us they felt safe living at the service, and we found staff managed risks to people’s health and wellbeing well. Some care documentation needed to be improved to ensure it was up to date and consistent. Most people and relatives were happy with staffing levels and told us people received support when they needed it. Two people told us they sometimes experienced delays in receiving support during busier times. Staff felt the provider’s staffing levels were appropriate to meet people’s needs, however, some told us that when there was staff sickness or an emergency, there could be delays in providing people with support. The provider used safe practices when recruiting staff to ensure they were suitable to support people living at the service. Staff received regular supervision and told us they were supported well. Management and staff promoted a kind, caring culture, where people were actively encouraged to be independent and make choices about their lives when they could. There were a wide variety of activities and events available to people and staff encouraged them to take part. Relatives and friends were welcome at the service and were encouraged to join their loved ones for events and celebrations. The local community was also welcomed and involved with the service. Management and staff prioritised providing people with a good quality of life. Through listening to people, providing person-centred care and collaborating with other agencies, they helped improve people’s health and wellbeing, the quality of their lives and supported people to achieve their goals.
