Bridge Care Services Limited was rated Requires Improvement overall at its September 2016 inspection, with breaches of Regulation 17 (Good Governance) and Regulation 18 (Staffing) due to poor record keeping, ineffective quality assurance processes, and eleven staff not receiving formal supervision for over six months. The service performed well in safe, caring and responsive domains, with positive feedback from people about staff conduct, timely visits and medication management.

Bridge Care Services Limited improved from 'Requires Improvement' to 'Good' across all five key questions at this inspection, having remedied previous breaches related to staff supervision and governance. The service demonstrated person-centred care, robust recruitment and medicines management, effective governance systems, and consistently positive feedback from people using the service and their relatives.

Strengths

· People felt safe and staff were consistently described as kind, caring, compassionate and respectful of privacy and dignity.
· Robust recruitment processes including DBS checks and references were in place to ensure staff suitability.
· Sufficient staffing levels with good consistency of carers, minimising rotation and building familiarity with service users.
· Medicines were safely managed with only one medication error in 12 months, which was appropriately investigated.
· Staff received regular supervision, annual appraisals and ongoing training including MCA, safeguarding and moving and handling.
