We carried out this planned comprehensive assessment of You First Support Services CIC between 16 December 2025 and 22 January 2026. The service is a domiciliary care agency providing personal care to people living in supported living settings, including people with learning disabilities and autistic people. We considered the principles of right support, right care, right culture throughout this assessment. At the time of our assessment, 5 people were being provided with personal care in supported living settings. At the last assessment in Oct 2024, the provider was found to be in breach of regulations in relation to safeguarding service users from abuse and improper treatment and good governance. This assessment found significant improvements had been made. The provider was no longer in breach of regulations. People were safe and protected from avoidable harm. Staff understood people’s risks and managed complex needs well. There were enough safely recruited staff. People received compassionate and effective care. Care plans were up to date and reflected people’s choices, needs and goals. Staff were kind, patient and respectful. People made decisions about their day to day lives. Staff promoted dignity and independence and were skilled in supporting autistic people and people who had learning disabilities. People and relatives said staff listened and responded when concerns were raised, and managers were approachable and supportive. Staff worked well with other professionals. Recent organisational and leadership changes had caused some instability, and communication remained an area consistently identified for improvement. Improvements had already begun through new systems such as newsletters, updates and advisory groups. The service had made significant improvements since the last assessment. Maintaining consistent leadership, embedding communication systems and sustaining governance processes will be essential to ensure ongoing high‑quality, person‑centred care.

This was the first planned comprehensive assessment of the homecare element of this service. The service is a domiciliary care agency providing personal care to people living in their own homes, including people with learning disabilities and autistic people. We considered the principles of right support, right care, right culture throughout this assessment. At the time of our assessment, 2 people were being provided with homecare support. Staff understood people’s risks well and worked with professionals to reduce avoidable harm. People had personalised risk assessments. Recruitment was safe, staffing levels met people’s needs, and new managers were described as approachable and supportive. People and relatives told us staff treated them with kindness, dignity and respect, and many had built strong, trusting relationships with the people they supported. Communication across the service remained a key area for improvement. People and relatives reported that changes in managers, inconsistent communication, and delays in receiving information at times affected their trust in the service. The management team recognised communication as an area to improve upon further. There had been significant organisational changes which had affected stability and consistency. Despite this, governance arrangements had strengthened, and the new management team was working hard to embed consistent quality monitoring, an open culture, and better engagement with people, relatives and staff. People told us they felt able to speak up and that managers responded when concerns were raised. The service had taken positive steps to strengthen leadership, improve recruitment, and promote a safer culture, but further work is needed to fully embed and refine these improvements to ensure people consistently received high‑quality care.
