Date of Assessment: 29 April 2025 to 20 May 2025. We visited the service on 29 April 2025 and reviewed information remotely following our visit. The service is a care at home service providing support to adults of all ages living with dementia, physical disabilities and/or sensory impairments. The service is also registered to provide support to children and nursing care, but they were not providing these services to anyone when we visited. There were 15 people receiving support, of which 13 people were receiving the regulated activity of personal care. This was a responsive assessment due to the length of time since the service was registered and concerns raised to CQC about records and staffing. We gave the provider short notice to ensure management were available when we visited the office. We found no significant concerns in relation to staffing and records, however, some improvements were needed to ensure records were robust and staffing consistent. For example, records for recruitment, risk assessments and recording visit times needed to be completed more consistently. Medicines were administered safely, however, there were some omissions to medicines records. The provider had already identified the need to have better oversight of record keeping and had brought in more robust checks to ensure records were completed correctly going forward. They had also reminded staff of the importance of accurate record keeping. There were enough staff to meet people’s needs and promote choice. Management made sure staff received training. People and relatives told us some improvement was needed to staffing consistency and staff competency; the provider had been working to address these issues. There had been recent recruitment of care staff and changes to the training offered. Staff told us they felt supported and had regular formal support such as supervision and appraisal. The service was effective, and people received kind and compassionate care. Management led by example and provided hands on training and care to people. There was a strong focus on values and ethos driven by the management team. Staff worked well with professionals and relatives to ensure consistent care and good outcomes for people. People could raise concerns, where safety incidents were reported, managers investigated incidents and learnt from these. People were protected and kept safe. Staff understood and managed risks. Staff made sure people understood their care to enable them to give informed consent.
