   Xtra Healthcare, a supported living service primarily supporting people with learning disabilities and autism, was rated Good overall following a focused inspection of Safe and Well-led prompted by concerns about staff recruitment, skills, training and oversight. No evidence of harm was found; the service demonstrated strong personalised care, effective safeguarding systems, specialist staff training, and well-embedded governance processes.

   Strengths

   • · Personalised risk assessments gave clear strategies for staff while enabling independence; staff skilled in recognising signs of emotional distress.
   • · Appropriate recruitment practices in place including DBS checks and employment references before staff commenced work.
   • · All staff had undertaken specialist training in learning disabilities and autism, refreshed regularly.
   • · Medicines administered, recorded and stored safely with competency assessments and auditing systems in place.
   • · Effective infection prevention and control measures with up-to-date PPE use and policy.
