Date of assessment was 23 September 2025 to 2 October 2025. Nottz Care is a homecare service providing care and support to people in their own homes. At time of the assessment, 65 people were receiving the regulated activity of personal care. We gave the service 72 hours’ notice of the assessment visit because the manager is often out of the office supporting staff or providing care. We needed to be sure they would be available. We carried out this assessment as a response to various concerns we received relating to the safety, care and treatment of people who used the service and to follow up on actions we told the provider to take at the last inspection. The last rating for the service was requires improvement (published 8 July 2019). The provider was previously in breach of legal regulation in relation to fit and proper persons employed. Improvements were found at this assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of this regulation. There was an effective system in place to safely recruit new staff. Medicines were not always managed safely. We received mixed feedback from the staff team regarding sufficient staffing levels and not always having the freedom to speak up. The provider did not always follow the Mental Capacity Act when completing mental capacity assessments for people who they deemed to lack capacity. However, staff were aware of the importance to obtain consent before supporting people with care tasks. Incidents, accidents and complaints were recorded, investigated and action taken to make improvements. The provider followed robust recruitment procedures. Staff had completed relevant training. People had their needs assessed and care was planned to meet their individual requirements. People were supported to live healthy lives and have access to healthcare professionals as needed. Staff encouraged people to do as much for themselves as possible. We found people were receiving person-centred care and supported by a caring staff team. The office staff team carried out regular spot checks and audits to have oversight of the quality of care. People were supported to make a complaint if needed and they were listened to and responded to appropriately. Information was accessible and available to people in a format suitable for their communication needs. Equality and diversity was promoted and respected. Review of people’s care, and support was completed, and the information was used to learn from and make any improvements.
