At the time of this assessment, there were 117 people using the service. Not everyone who used the service received personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. At the time of the assessment, the service was supporting 1 person with a learning disability, and the provider had regard to ‘Right support, right care, right culture’. People, relatives and staff offered positive feedback about their experiences of the service. People’s care preferences were known, and they were supported as individuals. People and their relatives were involved in assessments and reviews, and we saw this reflected in care plans and associated records. Quality checks, audits and surveys were used by the provider to have oversight of the service. People and their relatives knew how to give feedback, felt listened to and felt the provider was responsive. There were sufficient members of staff employed at the service. People received care from consistent staff, who knew them well, and who provided timely care visits. Staff received training, supervision and were supported via spot checks. Care was centred around the person, and reflected their likes, dislikes and preferences alongside their assessed needs. Staff understood and managed risks related to the care provided and people’s home environments, which helped maintain safety. Information regarding changes in people’s needs, incident and accidents, and any feedback following events was shared via consistent communication and teamwork. Medicines were managed safely, with positive changes having been made for people as a result of auditing. People’s health needs were known, and staff knew how to response to any changes in people’s health or wellbeing. We received positive feedback about the registered manager and senior staff. The management team were experienced, qualified and knowledgeable in their roles. Staff told us they enjoyed working for the service and felt well supported.
