We carried out this comprehensive assessment between 15 April 2025 and 02 May 2025. This was the first assessment/inspection of the service since it registered with CQC. We looked at how Cathrolls’ UK Limited assessed people's care needs, and how they trained and supervised staff to support people according to their needs and preferences. Cathrolls’ UK Limited is a domiciliary care service providing personal care to people in their own homes in the community. At the time of our inspection there were 2 people using the service who required support with their personal care. Not everyone who used the service received personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do we also consider any wider social care provided. The service provides support to older people, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with a sensory impairment. We spoke with 2 people, 1 relative and 4 staff including the registered manager and nominated individual during the assessment. The nominated individual is responsible for supervising the management of the service on behalf of the provider. People were protected from avoidable harm because risk assessments were in place however, these were not always clear, comprehensive and up to date. The management team updated these during the assessment to ensure staff had updated information about providing safe care and support. Staff were not always recruited safely as the provider had not explored their full employment history. However, the provider had carried out relevant checks and gained references before staff started as well as carrying out home office right to work in the UK checks which mitigated the risk. The provider had systems and processes in place to understand the diverse health and care needs of people receiving a service. Systems and processes to audit and check the service were in place, however these were not always robust. We identified shortfalls in record keeping which had the potential to cause impact as the service expands. We discussed these with the provider who agreed that improvements were required. They amended some records during the assessment. Staff felt communication was effective. Staff were supported through training; some additional training was required to ensure staff had all the training they needed. Staff had been adequately deployed at times that met people’s needs, they had sufficient travel time between people they supported. People and relatives were treated with respect and kindness.
