Abacus Care and Support provides personal care to people living in their own homes in supported living accommodation. We gave the provider 48 hours’ notice of our intended visit to the office. This was to make sure the registered manager would be available to support our inspection. This was the first inspection since the service was registered in 2019. The inspection commenced on 03 May 2025 and concluded on 6 June 2025. We visited the office on 14 May 2025. We visited people in their own homes on 30 May 2025. At the time of the inspection, 6 people were receiving support with personal care. We expect health and social care providers to guarantee autistic people and people with a learning disability the choices, dignity, independence, and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. Right support, right care, right culture is the statutory guidance which supports the care quality commission to make assessments and judgements about services providing support to people with a learning disability and/or autistic people. We considered this guidance as there were people using the service who have a learning disability and or who are autistic. The service met this guidance. People who used the service had limited verbal communication. We sought feedback from family, advocates and professionals as well as completing observations. The service had good systems and processes in place to monitor the overall quality of the care provided to people. Staff were clear about their roles and responsibilities and were well supported.
